Motorcycle Safety Tip – Safety Through Cleanliness

SAFETY THROUGH CLEALINESS

This is the best opportunity a rider has to survey the bike for potential maintenance needs.

    • By cleaning every spot on the bike you are looking at and or touching everything and seeing potential problems ahead of time.
    • Some examples; dirty chains hold debris that can cause undo wear.
    • Any fluid leaks are a magnet for road grime. Worn brake pads leave excess dust on calipers and wheels. Worn cables often show frays. Worn out levers typically have play outside operational movement.
    • *Check all areas for wear from excess movement (off-road Bikes have much longer suspension travel).

Checklist:

      1. Cleaning chemicals
      2. Cleaning brushes
      3. Cleaning tools
      4. Rags
